"Welcome to Midday: History Repeating" is a comedic storytelling show about how when Sharon Spell was growing up, she was often compared to her mother. So naturally she did everything she could to not become her mother, only to end up just like her but worse. Sharon started coming to terms with her young adult choices when she ended up in an unlikely career in a Victorian house museum. She had made a series of mistakes and to publicly save face, she couldn’t let on how miserable she was in private. As she led recurring tours through public and private spaces of the home where a robber baron and his family once lived, it dawned on her how she repeated stories to herself about how her life was turning out. This show looks at how toxic cycles and shame shape our narratives, and until we learn from our past, history will repeat.
