• THAT SLAPSTICK SHOW: Slapstick Sound Comedies

    Event

  • Doors at 3:30pm - Movies at 4PM

Queens-based film researcher, curator and program host Nelson Hughes opens up the vault with another round of rare, early sound comedies from Hollywood's Golden Age Of Comedy. This entry in Hughes' That Slapstick Show! explores the comedy film genre's difficult transition from silent pictures to 'talkies' through a selection of shorts from the early sound 'Pre-Code' era.

Highlights include popular fan favorite, Andy Clyde (1892-1967). A rather underrated, forgotten, and very funny lady, Marjorie Beebe (1908-1983), will be given her due in this program's lineup as well, alongside a variety of surprises. You won't want to miss this afternoon filled with rare films, laughs, and good cheer.
