An exhibition featuring whimsical illustrations of the elusive, but formative memories in the everyday lives of Queer &/or Trans ANHPIDA (Asian American / Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander / Desi Americans) living / experienced in Queens, NYC.
Quietly Queer in Queens challenges preconceptions of loud expressions of Queerness and Transness by focusing on the tangible and tender moments in our lives, whether they're about realizing their first queer crush in the middle of a hallway, first sweaty and confusing handholds with another girl, or the awkward, fumbling unrequited / requited loves we go through, and having them unapologetically on display in Queens, where there is the highest percentage of ANHPIDA in NYC.
The stories featured in the exhibition are lovingly collected though a series of interviews with consenting Queer &/or Trans ANHPIDA, and their portraits.
Thank you to NYFA Queens Art Fund for supporting this project!
