  • The Risk of Discovery Reading Series is a Queens-based 15 slot open mic/poetry prompt workshop. It begins with the informal poetry prompt workshop (the Risk and Discovery portion of the reading) then proceeds to the open mic, 3 minutes per person and then we introduce our featured readers.

    JUNE's Featured Readers: 
    Dolan Morgan is a writer and illustrator living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and is the author of two story collections, including That's When the Knives Come Down. Their work has appeared or is forthcoming in BOMB Magazine, The Believer, The Lifted Brow, The Rumpus, Electric Literature's Recommended Reading, Selected Shorts, NPR, and elsewhere.
    Tobias Carroll is the author of four books, most recently the novel Ex-Members. He is the managing editor of Vol.1 Brooklyn and writes a monthly column for Words Without Borders.

    The Host/Curator: Micah Zevin is a librarian poet living in Jackson Heights, Queens, N.Y. He has published articles and poems at The Otter, the Newtown Literary Journal and Blog, Poetry and Politics, Reality Beach, Jokes Review, Post (Blank), the American Journal of Poetry, The Tower Journal, Five2OneMagazine, the What Rough Beast Series at Indolent Books, Heavy Feather Review, Big Other, The Bowery Gothic, Brooklyn Vol. 1., The Poets of Queens Anthology, Narrative Northeast and Pine Hills Review. My first book of poems, Metal, Heavy was published as of December 1st, 2020 from Olena Jennings and Poets of Queens Press. He created/curates an open mic/poetry prompt workshop called The Risk of Discovery Reading Series.

    JULY's Featured Readers: 

    Francisco Delgado is an Indigenous writer (CHamoru and Tonawanda Band of Seneca) who lives in Forest Hills, NY, with his wife and their son. His creative work has recently appeared in Rejection Letters, JMWWLost Balloon, and Newtown Literary. He is also the author of the chapbook Adolescence, Secondhand with Honeysuckle Press. He is an Assistant Professor of English at BMCC/CUNY.
    Jared Beloff is the author of WHO WILL CRADLE YOUR HEAD (ELJ Editions, 2023). He is the editor of the Marvel inspired poetry anthology, Marvelous Verses (Daily Drunk, 2021) and has been a peer-reviewer for Whale Road Review since 2021. His work can be found at Night Heron Barks, Baltimore Review, River Mouth Review, The Shore, Contrary Magazine and elsewhere.
