Once upon a time, CBS gave Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth $10 million to write, direct and star in a film. That film "Crazy From the Heat" bears the same title as Roth's memoir but is NOT based on the memoir but IS sort of semi-autobiographical because the movie IS about a rock star named Dave who goes to the tropics where he and his entourage have bawdy drunken adventures with lots of scantily clad women.
October 10th is David's birthday, so what better day than today to blow the dust off this gem and share it with you?
The script is pretty on point with the Diamond Dave of 1985. The comedy is cheesy with lots of goofy gags and no real character development and, well, if you ever watched any of Roth's music videos from his album "Eat Em & Smile", it's like reading one of those.
*Roth is also QED's unauthorized Patron Saint and holds a special place in the heart of QED owner Kambri Crews. Ask her, she'll tell you.
