Ellia Bisker is an award-winning songwriter based in Brooklyn, NY. She leads indie band Sweet Soubrette, whose songs have earned comparisons to Amanda Palmer and Regina Spektor, and she is half of the musical duo Charming Disaster, whose song “Ghost Story” was recently featured on the podcast Welcome to Night Vale. She has also created original songs for the web series Smart Actress, the short film Mary & Louise (awarded "Best Closing Credits Music" at the 2016 Garden State Film Festival), and performance artist Jill Sigman/Thinkdance, as well as custom song commissions. She is a longtime participant in the Bushwick Book Club, a literary songwriting series that has inspired many book-related songs (including the title track of Sweet Soubrette’s latest album, Burning City, inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five), and she was a panelist at the 2015 Bookriot Live festival, speaking about book-inspired songwriting.
