Carrie's hair type was very different from her mother's, so growing up nobody quite knew what to do with it or the best ways to fix it. For many years, her hair either hung straight down or was pulled back into a simple pony tail. Carrie often marveled at her friends' hair styles, noticing that her classmates were treated to intricate braided styles while her own hair was in a simple top knot. She experienced a certain frustration when she could never get her hairstyle to look like those of the women and girls she saw on TV or in magazines; this frustration culminated in her giving up and shearing it all off at the age of 20. In the five years since, Carrie has used the process of growing her hair out to learn how to fix hair of varying lengths. Her current favorite hair style is a dutch crown braid
